Just joined from Wisconsin 1967 442 build
I’ve gotten lots of good info from you guys, just in my google searches, so I decided to finally join. I bought a 1967 442 last June, that was basically a barn find. It was running and driving when I bought it, but barely. I’ve done a lot to it so far, just finished welding a new trunk floor in, reinstalled the gas tank, and put in new fuel lines. Thanks for all the help, great site!

Just joined from Wisconsin 1967 442 build
Decided to join today, because most of the google searches for my 442, come up with answers from this forum. There is a lot of great information here. Last June I bought a 1967 442, that was basically a barn find. It hadn’t been on the road since 1974. It was running and driving, but barely. I’ve done quite a bit in the last year, and I’m just finishing the last project, welding in a new trunk floor, installing new fuel lines, and rehanging the gas tank. Thanks for all the great information!

6D7 442 - Welcome! Looks like you're coming along nicely on your 67. It's going to be a real beauty when you're finished. I wish mine was a 4-speed, I'm jealous! Yes, I own a 67 too, so welcome to the 67 club as well!

Welcome to the group, as you know the folks on the site are real good about answering questions, and sharing facts and ideas. I like the hoist in the garage I would like to get that far one day. Nice car, the trunk work looks like it turned out nice.

Just curious, your car doesn't look antique pewter in the picture, it looks almost black? It could just be the vintage photo or the lighting. Have you completely decoded your Cowl Tag to verify the original color?

Welcome aboard. Great find, your dash looks amazing and the options are sweet. I am kinda curious about the passenger door as well. Is there a werewolf in the neighborhood? Did you get caught out on a moonlit drive? Your console is identical to '68 and '69, very complete. With a black vinyl top, the pewter would pop nicely ($0.02).

Mine too. I’m 61 and I’ve wanted one ever since an older friend had one when I was 14 or 15 years old. He also had a ‘67 antique pewter/ black vinyl top 4 speed 442, it was so cool!!!

Rear suspension rebuild
Now that the trunk is done, I decided to start moving toward the front of the front of the car and work on the rear suspension.
Completed trunk
Started by removing 1 lower control arm, and the opposite upper control arm, so things wouldn’t move too much.
Removed the bushings.
Cleaned them up in the sand blaster.
A fresh coat of paint.
Installed bushings in the control arms, and diff., then installed control arms.
Installed new springs and shocks.
Done!!

Had to take it out for a ride today with the new rear suspension. Raised it up quite a bit. The front is next.

My 2 cents, the tire looks like that because of camera angle and the fact the car is way lower in the front..... Also the 67's do appear to have more room at the rear of the wheel well than the front.

I agree, thanks oldsmaniac, and dreamolds. The angle in the pics made it look weird. Dreamolds, I love the color combo of your car. The black vinyl top really sets it off!!

6D7 442 - Thanks for the compliment on my car. I really have never been a big fan of vinyl tops, but there was just something that really worked for me with the complete color scheme. Really nice work you've done so far on your car!

Well, it looks like you're moving along well now! I admire guys like you, and a whole bunch of other guys on this site, that know how to work on these cars. I was fortunate my car was essentially completely restored when I purchased it because I'm not much of a mechanic, although I'm learning through the help of guys on this site. Keep on moving,, we all enjoy watching your progress.
