Another guy from MI with a lot of history

Hello folks, Lindy here. I've been a lurker since 2009 and am now prepared to pull the trigger on a '70-'72 Cutlass, so I thought I'd make a proper introduction.

I have long history with Oldsmobile. My grandfather worked the line and then was a driver, my great grandfather was head of human resources, my uncles retired from GM and most notably, my great aunt, Helen Earley is affectionately known as The First Lady of Oldsmobile.

Needless to say there's a lot of pride for Oldsmobile coursing through my veins.

I'm now married with 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl.) One of my sons was born almost 3 years ago with a plethora of health issues including respiratory failure, cerebral palsy, unilateral polymicrogyria, etc. For a name of strength, we chose "Diesel" and it's fit him well every step of the way. Against all odds, he's doing amazingly well and on the verge of walking without his barrage of equipment. So proud of the little guy!

When we moved back here from Virginia to be closer to family and medical facilities, I bought a house that has a large 62x100 insulated shop with hoist, etc. In other words, I bought the shop - my wife bought the house.

Diesel LOVES cars so I'm hoping to find a project we can work on (I don't have time for frame-offs, however) that we can work on and then take to shows with his brother and sister. There's just not enough preservation of this history and I figure I'm in a good position to help carry it on and hope my kids do the same.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to getting to know you folks more.

Thanks, folks and thank you for the kind words, Pat. I'm sure our paths have crossed at some point in the past. We were active with the RE Olds Transportation Museum in the early to mid 90's and I had family on the board. I was just in there recently and much has changed -- mostly for the better!

Thanks again.

Welcome to CO! Sounds like you have a great garage to work on Olds projects. Wish mine was that big.

Sorry to hear about your son's health issues, hope you both find some great restos to do together.
