i took the numbers from my body tag. what do they mean, and how do i know if it is all original? it is a74 cutlass supreme. the guy i bought from said it is all original, and he purchased it from texas off his buddy who claims he bought it new in 74.

Basically it's a 74 Cutlass Supreme Hardtop Coupe
R = Arlington, TX Assembly Plant
71923 = Fisher Body #
965 = Interior trim and color I am guessing Red?
A51 = Strato Bucket Seats
74 = Cranberry Poly Lower Body Color
H = Maroon Vinyl Roof
10D = Fourth Week (D) October (10) 1973 Begin Build Date Code
180 479 = Build Sequence Numbers Pertaining to the build and will appear on the build sheet if found.

While it's unlikely that the cowl tag was swapped on a 1974, be aware that unless you have the build sheet, there is nothing on the cowl tag that ties it completely to the VIN. Yeah, the cowl tag matches the beginning of the VIN, but the production sequence number on the VIN (last six digits) does not appear on the cowl tag.

thanks for the info. everything seems to match up so far. it had the maroon vinyl top, the interior is a maroon color, the car is maroon also. i have not found the build sheet, i have the car totally stripped out, so i assume it is gone,or never had one? where do i locate the numbers to see if they all match the car?
