When I worked for Super shops years ago all we used were torque wrenches and 4 ways. No impact anywhere in the bays, even for removal.
I seem to remember the torque we used for 7/16" nuts to be 75 ft-lbs.

Well, I always THOUGHT the spec was 85 ft lbs for the 7/16 nuts. I just checked my 1968 CSM and my 1981 CSM.

In 1968, specified torque on the 7/16 lug nuts was 70 ft lb. On the 1/2 lug nuts it was 75 ft lb.

In 1981, torque on the 7/16 lug nuts was 80 ft lb for steel wheels and 90 ft lb for aluminum. On the 1/2 lug nuts it was 100 ft lb.

I just give 'em a firm pull with a 2' breaker bar and call it a day.

Back when these cars were driven every day, nobody used a torque wrench on the lug nuts.

I did a little more research. The numbers are all over the map.
