Hello all, I am new to the site and wanted to see how this works. I have a 1971 Cutlass S and I am in the process of completing an engine swap. I am putting in a 455 that I pulled from a 71 98. I am running into small issues such as forgetting to put gaskets here and there. I hope that some of you may have some schematics for me to use or be able to send me to a site so I can have a view to look at and step me through this process. Thanks

Welcome aboard

Yep ya gotta put the gaskets whar they're spose to be or things aren't gonna go very smoothly.

Check out the Big block section or ask some specific questions. We've got guys here who can do it blindfolded.

A gasket kit discribes all of the gaskets it contains, that along with a shop manual for your car should get you through this. Check e-bay or other internet site to locate you shop manual

thanks for the reply gents. I have purchased a shop manual from chiltons and I hope it will walk me through it a little more. I had made plans on taking pictures during the tear down, but I always stop after a certain amount of time. Lesson learned. I will ask questions as I go.

I would put the Chilton's manual aside (as in pitch), and get:
1. Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual for 1971. ~$35.00
2. Oldsmobile Product Information Manual for 1971. ~25.00
Both available online (Ebay) and both worth every penny. Will have all the info you can get.
There is nothing I know of that will step you through and engine swap though.
