New guy
Greetings! My name is Phil from Owensboro,Ky and I've been around for 75 years. Not long ago I bought a 63 Starfire convertible from my uncle's estate. I joined this forum hoping to obtain and disperse some fruitful insights along the curvy path of the reconditioning process.

Welcome !
You are lucky to find a shop that's willing to work on a "slim jim " trans.
You'll need lots of luck finding the left exhaust manifold .
It can come from any 63 or 64 full size car with dual exhaust.

going to keep close to original for the time being and brighten exterior with chrome and paint, and new top. redo door panels inside, and dash, carpet, and just enjoy it. I borrowed it from my uncle in 1966 for the prom, so it's a car I actually drove some in my youth.

Changing heads on older high compression engines was common in the mid-1970s when gasoline octane went in the toilet. The correct dual exhaust manifold for that 394 will be extremely tough to find and will be pricey when you do. Good luck.
