Hello all,

I just purchased a 76 Cutlass Salon that needs some TLC. I suspect I'll be a frequent visitor to this site! Ha Ha.

Looking forward to the discussion!

Welcome to Classic Oldsmobile. Sure is a good looking car. Feel free to share plenty of pictures and the stories behind it. 👍

That is a nice looking Cutlass. Although not as popular as the 68-72 A-bodies, these are great handling cars. This was the best selling car GM had in 1976.

I commuted to college in a 76 Cutlass Salon with my wife before we started dating. Car after about 4 months had no reverse, the driver's side door didn't open and the floor behind the driver completely rotted out. Car other than that was awesome.

Can someone answer what makes a Salon? Is it the half top and an option list? Just curious. This is a beautiful example of the car. Keep us updated.

Mostly a trim and marketing upgrade. Salon front end alignment specs and suspension are a little different too, for enhanced handling. Also on 73-77 442 and 73-75 Hurst/Olds.

That's a gorgeous car. Shame it's acting up performance-wise.

Super Sharp

Definitely my favorite from that era. The waterfall front grills with the rectangular headlamps, along with it being a Salon, make the car!
