Update on my 73 Ninety Eight

Finally got some time to put up some better pics of the 98, it does not seem to have alot of rust at all, a little behind the driver side rear wheel and in the trunk along the driver side , only about 2 inches by 3 inches. All of the power windows and locks work, the power seat also works great, I originally thought that the interior lights didnt work or the cigarette lighters, but that was just a fuse. The motor runs great, the only thing I had to do was take off the carb clean and adjust, and installed a new choke. I am still looking for some wheel skirts, and a rear bumper so if any one knows where some of those parts might be let me know. next step will be to take care of the body work, I am installing a new vinyl top, but going black d/t not being able to find the green. And the repaint it the original color with a little metal flake in it.

Looks like a nice little project you have yourself there. Certainly a great car to start with. The ol' girl looks a lot happy just to have been dug out of that parking spot it was in!

And from your pictures it looks like your car was equipped with some nice options! That would be a fine machine to cruise cross country in! John

It reminds me of mine in that sense. Mine is an LS, but it just has the two way bench, no tilt, no cruise, and no rear defrost...although it was a Kentucky car so the no defrost isn't hard to understand.

I have a snapshot memory of a 71 Ninety Eight coupe that I had in college and remember being on my way home one Sunday a.m. (from Sat night) in probably summer of 76 1st semester at college in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Western PA 6am Sunday morning AM 8 track - no tapes. That car had the mist wiper button on the gearshift, I will never forget that AM 8 track LOL with nothing on the radio NOTHING those were the days just got back from a road trip in the 88 and LOVE the factory AM/FM Stereo with sirius and MP3 through 88.9 FM >>> P E R F E C T times sure have changed technology-wise

Your car looks very nice. I've got a '73 Custom Cruiser I acquired in January. It shares much with your car, at least from the front doors forward!

Hey midwestfleet, I know where you can get fender skirts and a rear bumper for about $12,000...

Midwestfleet, mine is a 1971. I'm actually on the hunt for fender skirts too...at least a passenger side one. Last summer, cruising on I-90 into Chicago I had a blow out that ruined the passenger side skirt...still makes me mad thinking about it.

There are not any decent parts cars that I know of around here...but I'm looking all the time. I always check the local craigslists.
