'67 Cutlass
#1
Hello All
I recently placed a topic in the small block section. I haven't received a reply so I figured I'd try again. I have a couple questions maybe somebody out there can help me with. First of all is there any headers available for the small block '67 cutlass? I only found companies that go back to '68.(I looked at the car and it looks awfully tight) If there are not headers available then I've heard you have to "cap" one of the outlets on the passenger side to have dual exhaust.(any info?) Another question is I have a '67 cutlass parts car with side marker lamps. They look original but I have never seen them on this year of car. Any info is appreciated. Thanks......

I have a 1966 Cutlass with your 330 small block. I also have some headers for a 1967 400 motor off a 442. I am going to try to make a muffler shop put them on anyway they can. Bang, Cut, weld! anyway I will let you know what I encounter, the headers were cheap, I can't see paying 600.00 for the "Krooks" Version small block headers when all the exhaust gaskets were the same for all oldsmobiles and the small block is smaller than the big block so why wont they fit. There ought to be more room in there for these headers. I don't understand so I will try it to see.

Hi Dan and Dave,
The headers from the 400 should fit the small block. The bolt pattern is the same for the big block and small block. The port size is smaller on the small block head. If you install big block manifolds or headers on a small block use bigblock gaskets. If you use small block gaskets with the big block headers the gasket will be exposed on one side of the port and will burn. The BBO is two inches wider and about 1 inche taller than the SBO. The BBO header will fit.
I have to add that I have never had good luck with headers on Oldsmobile engines. The bolt pattern does not apply an even clamping force on the gasket and you will fight leaks all the time. If you get a set of headers make sure the flange is nice and thick. The flanges need to be dead flat.
