tail light lens question

tail light lens question

on a 1970 cutlass

if you only install the outer lens and not the inner lens what will happen?

The inner is a reflector, so I would say the light will not be as bright.

The inner lens is a light diffuser that spreads the light from the single filament so it appears to fill the entire lens. If you leave it out, you'll see a single small bright light in the center of the lens and the rest of the lens won't be as bright.

what would you recommend joe? get the inners, or its not a show car leave them off?

Why would you want to leave them off? The lenses were designed in to allow the tail lights to meet DOT visibility requirements. Leaving the inners off the car makes the taillights dimmer and increases your chances of being rearended.

does anyone have 4 taillights forsale????? a complete set screws gaskets inner and outter lens?
