Question 66 Starfire Radiator

Hi Guys,

New member here. Where can I get a replacement radiator for a 1966 Oldsmobile Starfire? My father-in-law passed away recently and he owned this car and now my mother-in-law wants me to get it running so she can sell. I was told by my father-in-law on a few occasions that all it needed is a radiator.

Thanks for the info in advance!

You can find an old radiator shop and get it recored, not cheap but it will be like original if that is what you desire.

"Old radiator shops" are rapidly going the way of the pony express. The closest one to me is an hour drive, and frankly, they are not really interested in installing a new core.

I recently purchased a new copper radiator for my 62 F-85 from U.S. Radiator. It took a little while to arrive, but the quality appears to be very nice. They list three radiators for the 65-70 Olds full size cars, including one aluminum version with stamped tanks that look like OEM tanks. Paint it black and no one will know.

Seems like they don't sell to general public?? I only see suggested retail prices? OPGI and others sell these from US radiator I have seen.

They sell directly through Coolcraft sales. That's how I got mine.

Joe — aluminum or copper/brass

Not to re-ignite the ever popular war, but just to be clear, you prefer copper/brass over aluminum for street cars?

My 66 Starfire has a/c and runs a bit hotter than I’d like when it’s cooling the cabin. I have a good clean 4 core in there now.

I have long wondered whether aluminum radiator would help. What do you think?
