What color should I paint my 72?
This is the color of her now, its saturn gold with white vinyl top and dark saddle interior. The engine is out of the car and being rebuilt and beefed up, you see the oil leak was horrible.
Give me some ideas

I agree with OLDZY. I could not make up mind on what I wanted also,so when I went to buy the paint, the paint store asked why don't I just paint the car what is on the body tag. And that was the color I bought which is called Bamboo.

My 71 is Bamboo, Great color! I had the same thing happen as you Gary, and I loved the decision the minute I saw it finished. My friends loved it too, after laughing at me for taking the body shops advice.
I will warn you though, bees seem to love it. No nests (even though it sat parked for over 10 years), but whenever I'm out it seems at least one follows me home on the hood or fender.
Good Luck!

Saturn Gold and Dark Saddle look great together! I would keep it, as I like the color combo. Top needs to be a light color for contrast, either white or a lighter beige (which was available then).

If you like the original color you should go back with the same thing. Only way I'd choose something totally different is if I really hated what it had. It just makes everything so much easier. But if you really want a change I'd go with a deep burgandy. I saw one at a car lot the other day and it looked great.

Is that a factory installed vinyl top? Looking at the trim, it appears to be vinyl also (not chrome like factory) like mine, which most likely means a 'dealer' installed vinyl top in your case. It is for me b/c that is what my body tag says. Mine is the Silver Pewter Metallic color.
In that case, you could eliminate the vinyl roof altogether if wanted as it came with no vinyl top from the factory. I have to admit though... Supreme's seem to look a bit better with a vinyl top with the contours they have and all.

Then again if want to keep her a stock color, nothing wrong with that either. It's really going to be your decision in the long run. Personally, I think a nice viking blue, with a saddle roof and saddle interior would look sweet on your ride, but then I really like viking blue.
Your idea about working it out on photoshop has a lot of merit. Kind of like the new GM/Ford strategy of magic mirroring the color of the car you want on their respective websites.
I'm sure you'll end up with a very classy looking car, no matter which way you go with the paint. Supremes always had that understated elegance about them.

Stay away from Aztec gold from the 69' it's really ugly!! Especially with black stripes! I bet it would look even worse with sweet...er...ugly vinyl black top! HAHA!
I kidd of course! I did Aztec gold and it gets a lot of compliments because it's different. The Saturn gold looks good, but has more yellow in it than Aztec.
I also had a vinyl top on my car originally. Based on the cracking vinyl near the back window, I would bet money that you're going to have to do a deck lid panel replacement between the window and trunk. Mine was rusted through and I also had to have it replaced. Pretty quick and easy though. Good Luck!!!

I like the color of my car--twilight blue metallic Paint code #28 from 1970. IMO looks a lot better than some of the dull colors these cars came in...mine was originally Saturn gold...simply couldn't bear it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.
