The Trip

I left Richmond, Indiana just before 6am as some really crappy weather rolled in. I was able to stay in front of most of it as I headed east toward Pittsburgh. Al, in fact, did turn out to be a stand up guy (the point of this post). The rolling chassis was exactly as described and photographed. He was a pleasure to meet and do business with.

From there it was off to just south of Cleveland for a rear diff built by Brian Trick (purchased from Dan Macal)...picked up at Steve's (a442dude @ROP) place. Then, back to Richmond. Whew. I opened the front door just before 7pm, chassis and rear safely stored in the building, 640+/- miles and 12+ hours later...

Many, many, many thanks to Al, Dan, Steve, and Brian (who got this whole thing started almost a year ago). I will be posting updates and pics as soon as I start tearing everything down!

my project

I am restoring my father's 1969 442 W30 that he ordered from the factory and has had the good fortune to hold on to!

I will get a project thread up at some point and keep everyone informed...

Yea, I was sort of recounting the story (with another thought in mind) at a local establishment yesterday; a guy down the bar says, "so why do you have to drive that far for car parts?"
