8.5" Corporate GM 10-bolt Posi Rear End and TH400 Driveshaft
#1
8.5" Corporate GM 10-bolt Posi Rear End and TH400 Driveshaft
Came out of a 76 Olds Salon with about 150K miles (he ran the engine hot, fried it)
All parts except painted housing have been inside. Housing covered in carport.
Was in process of a fresh rebuild when an asphalt dump truck totaled my 442 - canceled the need.
Needs reassembly, but everything should be there for a fresh new rear end.
Will not sell as individual parts. Will not ship unless you arrange a shipper to pickup as is.
$250 Marietta, GA
Housing : painted, poly graphite bushings pressed in , bolt in axles (not
C-clip type, coil springs), cover painted.
Chunk : new clutch plates/ S-spring, and pin
Axels: new bearings pressed on
Driveshaft : no work done, U-joints ok but would suggest rebuild while out.
Backing plates : painted, 11", no brake parts, has emergency brake cables
Gears : choice of used 2.73's that were in it or new Richmond 3.08's. If you choose 2.73's, just reassemble.
With 3.08 look to run 3K rpm at 70 mph with 225-70 15" tires and 1.0 top gear. About 2.5K rpm with 2.73 gears.
Tools : will include clam shell bearing splitter for pinion, homemade yoke
holder and shim insertion tool, wood stand for easy assembly, bunch of notes when disassembled and from work done on my Z28 rear.
Thanks for looking
Neil
