For Sale 15 x 7 SSII bolt on center cap rims

For sale are four 15" x 7" bolt on center cap rims off of a 1974 Cutlass I owned years ago. I only have two center caps, other than that they are complete. The rims are true and straight with minor rust on the inside lip, they have not been on a car for over 20 years. This does not affect the area where the tire seats to the rim. The rims have been painted different colors due to a color change on the car but they are a matched set. The trim rings are dirty in the picture but are in good driver condition.

I am asking $250.00 for the rims and local pick up only. The rims are located in Machesney Park, IL zip code 61115

Sorry they aren't on your 66. Not too often the bolt on cap 15" ones are posted FS. Those will clean up really nice in a bead blaster.

I've gone round and round with that idea but for some reason I'm not a big fan of the SSII's on a 66-67. If I saw a 68 on in the near future I would hang on to them but I figure it's time for someone else to put them to good use.

How can you tell bolt on vs snap on caps from pics? Since I have snap on center, interested in learning how they bolt on?

They bolt on from the back side of the rim

If you look at the style of the wheel itself? There's a huge difference at the hub area. On Snap on centers, there's a raised center the cap clips to. also note the flange area extends and blends with the raised center.

With Bolt on wheels, the center area is has the same deck height as the hub opening and the flanges and independent. Here's pics showing the differences

Snap on - the ones you're familiar with so only one pic for comparison (most popular and more widely produced over the years. Sizes for Olds production : 14X6, 14X7 and 15X7

Bolt on (also notice the small holes drilled at the base of the flanges to attach the center caps as Scot mentioned). Very common to see center cap damage from sloppy work at tire shops. The impact tools would rattle against the side of the center cap and destroy the finish). Bolt on caps are also considerable bigger than the snap on ones. I have both sets.

The finished look of an SSII with all trim included - note hub and flange drops

Better pic showing how the bolt on cap sits low (disregard monza emblem as these are really Olds wheels)
