1970 442 horns
#8
Here's the two sets of horns that I have.....The all steel set came with a 72 Supreme and the rusty steel and plastic set were in my 70 Supreme...I can't say for sure if either of them are original. I bench-tested both sets and they seem to work fine....at least that's what the neighbors all said!!
Let me know if either of these will work for you....unless you go with the NOS

4-ever-olds I think my 1970 has the original horns. If I get home before dark Monday I'll see what numbers they have stamped in them.
Randy, if you think yours are original that might be a good check to see if we come up with the same numbers.
Eric, if shot12 doesn't go with your NOS ones could you post the numbers on those too so we can help him get the correct ones? John

Horns identification
2blu442: I took a quick look on ebay and it looks like the all-steel ones are the correct horns. The ones I have both have "9000" in raised numbers in the casting and are stamped with "283" on one and "284" on the other. They both have "2C5" stamped on them as well (date code maybe?) The 283 has the letter "M" above the Delco-Remy and the 284 has the letter H in a circle above the Delco-Remy which I'm guessing would represent the tone of the horn?

I have my originals on the shelf in the garage. They are SHOT and useless (sound like rattles when I shake them) so I replaced them with some parts store horns so I would have something. I'll get a pic of them to compare.
EDIT: They need to be cleaned up pretty badly. I can't see any numbers on them. I'll see what I can do. I did take pics of them and can post for physical comparison, but that would be the extent of it for now until I can get them cleaned up.
