TCS pressure switch-71 Cutlass
I bought a swiitch on ebay that I thought was for my 71 Cutlass. Went to put on today and found it's not right. It has 2 connectors that are straight with each other. Pic shows what I've got. The plug on my car is 2 connectors but they are sort of like a tee. 1 is vertical and the other is horizontal. I would like to buy one. Any body got one for sale? Thanks Greg.

No it's a Turbo 350. It looks like a regular oil pressure switch but they only had 1 terminal. It goes down on the transmission on the right side above the pan sort of between the kick down cable and the dipstick tube. I think that's what I have here. The trans is not original to the car, it's out of a 73 but the spot for the switch is plugged. I found the electrical connector plug all coiled up in a nylon zip strip and wanted to go back to original. So I'm not positive but I assumed that's what it is, Thanks for your response, Greg.

I remember what you are talking about now. You may try oldspackrat. He just picked up one of his cars from my place and the transmission was a TH350 and it had one in the side of it. It would be used and i am not sure if it was good or not but it was there.

Unless you just want to put it back all original, the TCS (Transmission Controlled Spark) switch's only function is to block vacumn to the distributor until the trans shifts into 3rd gear. This was done for emissions, and actually hurts performance and fuel mileage. Just thought that you might want to know.
I believe that the switch that you have now is for an electric fuel pump circuit; it cuts power to the pump if the engine isn't running (no oil pressure).

Rocketman, you may be right about the switch I have. I know the TCS was a weird emission control device but I want to have it on the car, just to be there- a place to put the wire... I was thinking I would have it all there but make the vacuum advance work normally.
