J headed 350 olds

So got the car out with the new engine. Ported J heads , Rpm intake, 750 carb , Engle solid lifter cam 560 ish lift 245 ish duration I wanna say. 10.25 to 1 compression, speed pro pistons , nothing fancy. First pass with mufflers ran an 11.82 @110 . Uncorked the exhaust changed the timing set the shift point to kill and it ran an 11.58 @ 113. This combo has more in it.

Nice. I've always said that if you plan to port iron heads, the J heads have more material for you to work with. The "sleeper" value also adds point in my book.

Always good to have multiple engines built, especially when you flog them as hard as you do. The ported J heads on a hot 350 is an interesting combo.

They were probably milled .050-.060" minimum. Those heads from the factory had 77 to 80 cc's.

And in that case it would take atleast .075-.085" to get down to 67 CC's.

Thanks. This combo exceeded my expectations already but clearly has more in it comparing time slips. Gotta figure out that 60 ft time.
