One step closer
Well over the weekend I got all my engine parts to Delaney’s Racing Engines in Perry, Michigan. The build was going to be a 468 BBO dry sump but I decided to go with a D diesel block instead. The build will consist of a D Block diesel with a custom and modded girdle to transform it into a dry sump. The crank is a 425 crank offset to 4.0”, rods are 6.125” Manleys and pistons are Custom Arias 4.185”. The heads are Stage 3 Aluminum Battens 2.250/1.65 with Batten smallblock intake. I’ll be running a pro systems Dominator with a Wilson Manifolds spacer. This combo should be a good performer!

That what I thought .Paul used a wet sump. I understand that a dry sump add go. But really no need on a diesel going in 9's is there?

I really like the girdle/dry sump setup you have there. That should be one heckuva build, glad you are moving forward with it!
Are you going to do a dry sump with a vacuum pump stage on it as well?
Are you planning on having the heads flow tested so you know where you are at with them?
Do you have the rocker arms as well for the heads? Do they require offset Intake rocker arms?
Us Batten guys have to stick together!

The engine this came off had a vacuum pump so I’ll reuse it. The old 468 made 700hp/700tq with a 750 Dominator so I’m not going to bother having them flowed. I do have rockers that are offset for these heads and am planning on using them.

Well lots changed with my build. My 468 block ended up being bad and I decided to not have the girdle modified to fit my Diesel block. Ultimately I am using my four bolt HP block along with a Mark Remmel crank. The stage 3 Battens off the BBO are being used. Total cubes will be 440.

What happened to the big block Olds build Mark built and dyno tested? The reason I ask is this has been a hot topic discussed by many Oldsmobile enthusiasts over the years, and seeing we all were waiting for Marks engine building skills to be showcased at a drag strip for the first time ever. Same question for the gold Cuttlas with the Remmel small block that was concerned with needing a roll bar, then the focus was turned to the braking system.

"You seem to be the only one that still hung up on this"
Actually I'am not the only one and thats for sure, I've never asked about this before at least to you, but I've sure been curious to say the least..................................
(3) different Olds shops/manufactures have talked to me about this, and ironically (4) different people on this forum have brought this up in our conversations, were all just curious? Please feel free to shed some light on this, if I remember correctly this engine was one of your best performers on the dyno.
