When I was rookie at the fire station the old timers would cook spam in mac and cheese, also would have the fried corned beef hash for lunch. You had 2 choices, take it or leave it, but you still had to pay for it. We would also have the corned beef, hated that stuff, we used to call it pickled dog butt.

SPAM is everywhere in Hawaii. To answer "therobski", I worked quite a few jobs at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard from 2005 to 2015 and yes McDonald's was still serving SPAM and eggs; they also were serving TARO fried pies, another local favorite!

Cooked up some SPAM in our old 76 Holiday Rambler camper about 25 years ago. Skillet slabs on pan toasted sourdough with sautéed onions and spicy brown mustard,,, pretty good but too salty but maybe I used salted butter LOL
