Also, it looks like you have your vacuum switch in a coolant port on the intake.

another question i have:

i got some chrome valve covers from mondello, and i needed baffles, it said they only dont fit roller rockers, and i dont have rollers so i got em, and they still didnt fit!! those idiots put the baffle in the wrong spot, its right on top if a rocker arm, and cannot be properly fastened... what should i do?

You can buy baffled grommets for the PCV. I have a set of Rocket Racing aluminum valve covers with no baffles and that is what I will be using.

thats where its supposed to be. it uses coolant temprature to work. when its hot, the valve changes position to let vacuum move to another location......

where would you recomend i put them? because there is nowhere else for them to go. they dont use vacuum to work, they use heat from the coolant.

Mondello sold the business to another party, and opened a tech school in Tennessee or Kentucky..... Don't remember.

Looks like it.
It depends what carburetor you are using.

That one looks like a quadrajet spacer judging form the gasket.
Just remember the quadrajets have a different bolt pattern than the rest of the carbs.

There are ''square bore'' bolt pattern carbs, and "spread bore'' bolt pattern carbs.

so i did a test fit of the EGR valve, and it appears to me that if i use a riser plate, the carb will hit the EGR valve... everything i do to this car, doesnt work..

this dipstick i got when its installed you cant pull it out because the master cylinder is in the way...

DSC02007.jpg

Close enough.
Same with the 58 egr washer in my opinion.

Don't make it so hard on yourself bud. Although I'm glad that you're trying to do everything perfect.

You can get the proper 307 (in a cadillac) dipstick and tube at a local GM dealership. It probably won't have the looped top like that one though.

my father told me many times, " if its worth doing, its worth doing right the first time" and he gave the motor to me for free, so i dont want it to get fucked up, plus the car its in really means a lot to me as it is, so i figure since i have another beater car, (95' accrd wgn 5spd) i dont mind if my car has to sit for the winter for me to acquire parts.

funny thing is, i tried to pull the dip stick on the 307 i have and it broke right off, lol. that motor lasted apprx. 2oo,ooo miles but man all the garbage hooked to it made it a really crappy motor as a whole. i aim to change that with this mildy cammed and jetted 350 rocket. it should help in moving the extra weight i have added to the car

to be honest with you i dont know... the rear axle is from another cadillac with a different motor (ht4100) so id have to see if i could look it up, but the trans is a th350.

i understand if you guys dont like the car, but be glad i at least insisted having another olds motor!

I guess caddys are cool...as long as they're olds powered The trunks are huge in those cars and you have it filled pretty good, looks you could run a dozer with those hydros. By the way did you do that to the hummer? Looks kind of like 29 palms.

Thought so spent enough time frying there to recognize it. The carb gaskets will work fine . What do you think will hit the egr valve, the throttle linkage or just the cable? You might solve it with a universal cable mount to change the geometry a little.

i think the spring might not clear it... ill order the gasket and the spacer, if anything i could make a new gasket for it.

figures, the one random nice day i have free produces more problems....

DSC02021.jpg
DSC02020.jpg

this spacer i bought, came with mounting studs that were too short!
with the studs in and the carb mounted, the top of the stud is flush with the top of the carb, i cant even get one thread on it... so now i have to go out any buy longer bolts... what the **** is the point of buying an adapter if the hardware that comes with it is wrong???!!!

anyway... i got the adapters for my trans cooler lines ready, i have to go to Napa tonite anyway, so ill get all of my vacuum line and tranny line and ill inquire about getting some new mounting bolts...

OH and i almost forgot! the guy at napa said i should have left the stock th200 tranny in lieu of the th350, i think the rockett ill destroy that little *** trans, plus the car is over its gross weight... im going to stick to the th350, just gotta figure out the lock-up converter.

i trust these are the correct spark plugs?

DSC02025.jpg

the x over pipe i have allready had, but heres the other goodies ( minus x-mission lines) i bought.

DSC02026.jpg

i dont get it, i have to change this one out for a smaller one, because the previous one was too big, now this one is too small, WTF am i gonna do? can i bend this flare out more? these manifolds are from a 79' i believe. the manifold from my 88 307 doesnt have the male ball flare on it, it has a lead gasket with a metal ring that goes on it... what size is the opening on this damn manifold?

i have been told a lot of crazy things in my life, but that a metric200 is better than a th350... man i dont know about that. even with the 307 i destroyed that tranny on 3 or 4 separate occasions. i heard the 200 was especially notorious for failure behind the only 350 diesel... i dont care if the tranny came in a grand national, that car weighs 1/4 of what betsy does... lol.

If your Caddy has Overdrive, you had a 200-4r 4 speed
If it's just P R N D 2 1 then it was a 200-C 3 speed

The 200-4r has a faster gearing than the th350, but the th350 is a better choice for you in my opinion.

Since the Caddy isn't going drag racing and having 3.73 or 4.11 gears in the rear end, you won't need the overdrive gear. Just remember that the th350 is a 3 speed trans and your gear selector won't read correctly anymore if you had the 4 speed trans before.
