307 and weird noise!

I have a 83' year 307 with 5a heads on my buick.

When i drive, sound is like tsaptsaptsaptsap and it follows rpm. Its coming from drivers side, in passenger side you wont hear anything.

It comes ONLY when D, R or 1,2 is on, not in park or neutral.

There's no matter if the engine is hot or cold, with d or something else gear it wont tsaptsap in idle but if you press a little bit pedal, then you hear it.

My friend was in car, d and brake was on and he gave a little bit pedal and I was under the hood.

The sound comes from driver's side of engine, like from the place where stands 1 and 3 cylinder. You won't hear the sound on intake, but if you're listening it sitting next to wheel, you can hear it. But the sound's not coming from oil pan.

I have listened engine on enginestethoscope but i didnt hear nothing unusual.

Noise follows rpm exatly from high idle/choke to max rpm. When you drive on highway with smooth gas it wont come out but if you press little bit more like idle situation, it starts.

Someone says that flexplate/flywheel is cracked and sound comes there. I am not checked that yet because sound is coming so exatly on front.

Exhaust manifold is okay, spark plugs are tight. I opened valve cover and there was all okay.

Engine runs and starts fine every situations.

Help me please!

Air pump and egr is blocked.

Engines can knock for a long time and stay running. To isolate the cylinder, you can pull a spark plug wire one at a time and the noise should go away or change when you get to the one with a problem.
edit, with the engine idling plug the exhaust with a rag to make sure it isn't abn exhaust related issue (AIR tubes, manifold, etc).

Okay, thanks!

What causes this noise only drive range, not neutral? (if its bearing)

The extra load on the engine.

The voice would be flatflatflat than tsaptsap, i dont know it doesnt matter? Im Finnish so i cant describle voice so good.

I but my shoe bottom tight on exhaust pipe in idle. I know there is tiny hole in pipe somewhere under the car but nothing else. It idles like a normal but i dont heared anything unordinary under the hood.

I take 1 and 3 cyl spark plug caps off one by one. Engine vibrates like it vibrate and noises on 7cylinders so it wont helped because there where more voices than usual heh.

Any ideas?

How would the load on the engine cause a bearing knock, whenever it

will not make noise at idle or when revved up in park?

Have an Olds aluminum 215 and am hearing the same type of noise.

Engine was rebuilt and now has about 600 miles on it. I've heard this

noise from the first time I ran the engine in the car. I can rev it up

to 2500 rpm or higher..no tapping, once in D going around the block it will

make the tapping noise. A maddening mystery.
