330 olds engine oil still black after fresh oil change

Can anyone give me a reason why my oil stays black even after I change the oil?

How long do you run the engine between oil changes? Does the engine run well? A gas engine shouldn't have sooty black engine oil like a diesel engine.

Because the inside of your engine probably has some sludge build up and the detergents of your oil continuously breaks this down. Your engine also may have some blowby that will also contribute to contamination.

How frequently are you changing it? Are you doing the filter as well?
