I'm New to the forum but i figured this would be the best way to get real direction on my 350 rocket. i have a 88 cutlass with 307 in it but i want to replace with 350 rocket. i just bought a 350 rocket bare block and wanted advice about which crank, heads, camshaft etc to get to make it perform. im not familiar with oldsmobile. So im kinda in need of info so i can put project together.

this is the most important. . you're looking at 4-6000 bucks to build a brand new one from scratch , likeyou plan to.

Hmmm...I might have a 67 330
crank for it. Need to ask my son.
4-6K for a rebuild, anyway.
I'm going with 5 or above.
What are your plans for the top end?

Im in MI, and i wanna spend between 1500-2000. not sure about what I want to do with the top end....this is my first rebuild project.

I'd advise finding a good running used engine or holding out until you have a better budget to work with.

A member here had a nice 355 for sale for a fair price with good parts just the short block.

olds 307 and 403

You can use your 307 crank and rods, just needs rebalanced. He should be able to get the block together for 2 grand, heads no way. Get either the CP or Probe pistons for it, depending on the shape of the block. What compression are you aiming for?

Like J stated, that isn't going to get you very far, especially with other upgrades you will need like exhaust and cooling. Find a running 403, pop on some older 350 heads for a compression bump and a little cam.
