Another Head Question

I've just found out my 1973 350 has a cracked head, has No.8 heads,
I've seen some 3A heads advertised, would these be an OK replacement,
car is a Delta 88, just a cruising car,

regards, Cus

The 3A heads had known cracking issues on the exhaust side. Where is your #8 head cracked? The 3A heads will give similar compression with the replacement Felpro head gasket vs the factory shim head gasket having slightly smaller chambers.

My #8 head also cracked on exhaust side, I've since found out #3A heads also have 1/2" bolts, so I'll give them a miss. I've just found some off a 1968-70 model, just waiting
for the guy to give the head#. Bit of a gamble buying 2nd hand heads that aren't crack
tested. From what I've read, the earlier heads are better, would I have any installation
issues bolting them on a '73 block?

No, they bolt right on. Early heads not only flow better, they will give you a half a point boost in compression even with Felpro head gaskets over your #8 heads.

A few deals have fallen through, so looks like I might have to have the head repaired.
The engine reco. guy said he can plug (stitch) the crack, I'll see how it goes,
