Although one of the heated discussions on this forum, [Q-jet vs. Holley] I'll say the Q-jet, set up correctly, will out perform the Holley in every respect.
MPG, off-idle performance, and acceleration!!
I've found that 'trap-door' adjustment and jetting, in conjunction with the proper distributor advance curve make all the difference in the world!
The Q-jet has 750 cfm at your disposal, so the 600 Holley isn't a fair comparison, although I'd say the same thing over a 750 Holley.

Most see a shiny new looking carb, and fail to check the primary throttle shaft for wear - a BIG vacuum leak, if worn!
I always open the carb, and check for play, before consideration!

A "rebuilt" carb. from Craigslist is kind of an ultimate unknown quantity.

No idea who the rebuilder is, what he did, how the carb. was originally, or why he's selling it, and no guarantee.

If you saw the same carb. at a swap meet, and you knew carbs, and you could pick it up and take a close look at it, you might be happy to pay $20 for it (maybe even $50), but would you plunk down $180 to some guy you'd never see again?

You might do better buying a junkyard carb. and rebuilding it yourself.

Besides, is anything wrong with the carb on there?

what are you going to use it on ? You can get a NEW edelbrock up to a 850 if needed very simple carb to work on and set IMO.

The "better" carb is the one that fits the manifold you plan to use. I'll take a Qjet any day, but it's worthless to force one to fit on a square bore manifold with one of those restrictive adapters with the "sideways" holes. On a square bore intake I use the E-brock (Carter), as I've done on my 62. On a spread bore intake I always use a Qjet.
