what's a good running 350 worth?
hey guys i have a 78 delta 88 350 4 barrel with 102k that runs better than some people's 3 year old cars.. anyway, i have a 76 455 that runs strong that i plan to rebuild along with some edelbrock aluminum heads, mild cam ect. i will be selling the 350 when the 455 is done but was not sure what a fair asking price should be. any input?

I have seen them from 250 to 800. 250 being with no running gear but complete intake to oil pan and 800 being complete carb to oil pna with fresh gaskets and paint and tune up and proof of it running or even running on a stand.

Just a thought... If it really runs better than a 3 year old car.... why mess with something good?
A later model 350 is the least desireable of the 350s of the early-mid 70's... because of the windowed main webbed blocks, and lack of a nodular iron crank. Are they good to use for a mild street strip cruiser? Absolutely.
Bottom line is that motor is only worth what someone is willing to pay you at the time you are ready to sell it. Location plays a HUGE part in how much its worth as well. Someone deep in the middle of bowtie circle track country probably couldn't GIVE it away...
just my two cents. .

thanks copper that's good info to go by. it's in the car so i will video it for condition and miles and probably compression and leakdown test it before it comes out. john, the car is coming completely apart for a frame off resto( most would ask why since it's a four door delta but i had one for my first car so im going the grandpa sleeper route with it) and i did ask myself the same question that you did but since it's coming apart anyway i would like a little more forward thrust than the 350 offers. thanks for the info on the bottom end setup, are the later 455 motors the same and would you recommend i do anything to the bottom end for longevity besides a stock rebuild if it's going to be street driven with a little tire smoke here and there? good advice on your end too john, thanks

im not worried about getting much for it, i just like to see good stuff end up where it could be used in the end, and did not know what was considered fair money for it when it comes out.
