looking for parts -70 toro gt

hi guys i am hoping somebody can help me out.. new to this site and i just saw theres a separate toro section. Here's the situation- i have a 70 toro gt that im currently doing a resto on but i cannot find anywhere with body panels. i currently need a rear right quarter and a right front fender. Also need at least one taillight (one of mine is broken, would take a matching pair if both were clean). Can anyone give me some advice to whether or not there is anywhere i can find these or am i just going to have to take them off cars in a boneyard? Any input would be great

Thanks,
Pete

www.toronado.org

Someone there may be able to help.

You're limited to 1970 parts for your sheetmetal because of the wheelhouse design. Some of the Toro group guys are in Colorado and other dry states and may be able to find the sheetmetal you need. You're aware the 68-70 hood, 69-70 decklid, 66-70 doors and 66-70 all body glass are identical?

Originality Plus sometimes has NOS 1970 pieces but god help, he's expensive. And every part he sells is keyworded to bring out the stupid money, in your case GT or W34. For the record, the hood GT script and the cutout rear bumper/exhaust tips are the ONLY GT-specific exterior parts. Use that for bargaining leverage when someone tries to tell you a part is only for the W34/GT.

Look on the FS section of ROP. There is a guy parting a 70. It says last call or something like that in the title.

Richard , that's providing he can even get in there since www.realoldspower.com rarely works to get on the site. I'll see if I can get him a link sometime today.

Try this- though from the looks it may not have anything you can use and it's in MI so expect rust.

After decades of following up on leads, there really isnt anyplace that has NOS body metal for first gen toro period. Nor did GM go high on supply as this was still the risk phase for them on the FWD issues. There is a guy on ebay who has had for sale rear quarter panels for over 5 years now. His listing is for 950 bucks and I believe he is in the AZ area. The typical rust areas for toro front and rear panels is usually an easy repair for a competent metal man and for what good panels would cost, you probably can do the repair much more effectively as even good replacements will need a lot of blocking and grinding anyway.

I believe 1969 Toro tail lights are the same for 1970

If the two 1969 Toronados, from Hindale,NH, does not sell today (auction ends in 5-6 hours), on Ebay. Scott told me , he plans to part out the blue '69.

Orignality Plus - STAY AWAY FROM HIM. BAD NEWS!!!!!!
He ripped me off, back in 2003, plus a Toronado friend of mine form Fl, waited 8-9 months of Toronado stuff he bought from Bill, off of Ebay.
Bill booasted to me, via email, he makes $15,000-$25,000 per month on Ebay.
Plus many moons ago, I heard he litrealy blew cigar smoke in Rccketradier's face!

68, 69, 70 taillight lenses are all different.

68 are flat-faced, no reverse light, simple chrome bar across the lens face.

69 are flat-faced, reverse light, no chrome trim at all.

70 are moulded, reverse light, and chrome outline trim.

68 pods are different from 69-70 though they WILL interchange in the bumpers with a little drilling.

OP might make that kind of money on ebay, but it ain't because of me! He can keep his $75 73-77 Cutlass ashtrays...

Pete, the '70 W34 is a super car! Can't help you with parts, but I can help you with information about it if you need it.
You can see the one I had (and what happened to it) on my web page here:

70 Toronado GT emblems

You wouldn't need a Toronado GT emblem for your trunk lid would you? I have one of these rare parts if you are looking.

See how rare it is? Ha Ha. I think you will find that there are two GT emblems. One on the hood and one on the trunk from what I have seen.

Trust me, I know the W34 Toronados (and had a '70 GT) and there is only one GT emblem and it goes on the hood. Absolutely. Period.

Well, (between mouthfuls of crow) I stand corrected. It was about 20 years ago when I removed the emblem and when I checked the part I have it turns out to be one GT emblem and the plain Toronado emblem from the rear. After posting my last comment, my memory reminded me that it was as you said as being the front emblem, not rear. I guess it was a good thing I got out of toros a few years ago as I probably wouldn't remember which end to put the snow tires on. When I found the car that this emblem came from, I also got the rear bumper which is what I was thinking about as far as the rear of the car goes, but the bumper was sold off many years ago. My apologies for questioning your knowledge.

That's easy, one on the front and one on the rear!

That's okay. Memory is a tough one (for most of us). And I know it can play tricks on us. And believe me, there is a lot of gray areas too. That just wasn't one of them!

Stay away from Originality Plus, the owner is super rude, and he ripped me off back in 2003.
I'll PM you with two orignal owners (yes from day one, 1970), with their phone numbers

Any 68, 69 stuff ?
I have a friend from ,Fl, looking for rear molding pieces.
Oh course I'm always looking for 68 rear tiallights (and check if the rear bumper in notched. 1968 and 1970 Toro notched rear bumpers are hard to come by)

Oj for 375 hp, OM for the W-34/GT.
The torque convotor is a bit beefer in the W cars, you can feel the shift points.
