Trunk weatherstrip issue on 66

I got a trunk ws from ebay for a 66 Toro that came listed as 1958-79 GM and you trim it to fit, are they all the same other than length, or is the Toro one unique? after I installed it the trunk sticks up on the side and it’s very hard to close.

New weather strips take a while to flatten and conform as well as the 40-50 year originals. The deck lid on my car was extremely difficult to close after installing new weatherstripping.
It took a while before I could close it without slamming it, but now it’s as easy os the original.

Too the type rubber used in the making of the seal is paramount. I had the same issue with a cowl seal I ordered from Steele Rubber, nothing I did prevented the hood from kicking up at the windshield. I ordered from Fusick, who claimed sold the sponge type seal. Installed it and the hood fit perfectly. I noticed recently while perusing their catalog they make the same claim about their trunk seals.

How long would it take? Is it supposed to stick up as far as in the pic? The trunk lid is not really that big and heavy, not sure how much weight is on the seals.

I’m looking at your pics on a phone so I can’t really tell if the weatherstripping is installed correctly. It’s easy to install with the wrong part in the channel. The curved, sorta pointed part is supposed to contact the deck lid. I can’t tell from the pics if it’s installed correctly.

This may help:
