3000 stall too much? or is 2200 not enough
So im looking into stalls atm and im a little confused.
Iv notice all the cheby guys go with the 3000 stalls in their a bodies and all the olds guys go with a tamers 2200 stall.
What is the reasoning for this?
Im looking for a propper 350/ th350 set up to run low 14/ high 13 and dont want to under nor over stall my car
smogger 350 #4 heads with 4.11 gears (stock cam atm)

Oldsmobile engines get into their peak torque curves at lower RPM than a Chevy.
You start changing intakes, cam, headers, anything that affects the torque curve, you may have to play around with stall speed. Ideally what you want is for the converter to flash within a couple hundred RPM of where your cam and intake combo starts making power and peak torque. By doing that, the engine is into its powerband when the converter grabs and starts transmitting power thru the driveline.
With a basically stock engine, even with 4.11's out back, I would not go very big on stall. The car will turn into a slug real quick and be hateful to drive anywhere but the dragstrip.
