bolting up torque converter to 455
What should I do about the torque converter resting on the flexplate weight? The flexplate on the left is the olds 455 and the right is the 403 I removed from the car. If these were in correct then the current flexplate has been installed correctly.

I'm looking at your pics as I am going thru a vibration problems on my 70 toronado w/455....I've had many auto trans apart over the years and I've never seen a torque converter that looks like yours, is it a race tc or?...It looks like something is already bolted to it...I've rebuilt my engine recently, and just re- disconnected the flywheel from converter to isolate motor from trans for vibration diagnosis...and mine looks like all the others (all brands) I've had apart as does part of yours...It's the thick flat part on the tc resting on the weight in the pics that looks alien, take that off and try fitting it...good luck!

Hi, I got a reply email but don't see a post...No mines a th425 (old big car), but I did go and look at 200r4 converters at ebay for a better pic of your mounting pedistals to verify what I was thinking since I have been wrong a time or two...lol... those pics are **** too but there was enough of a view to tell that the mounting pedistals may be a little larger than mine but are still more similer than whatever is in your pics with the exception of a 9 3/4 (small) converter that was aftermartket race one and that one had extended thin mounts...but if that all (converter in your pics) came off a 403 car that the flywheel pic is from it should work, but not with the converter sitting on the weight...you should be able to clock it to different holes on fly wheel...if it did'nt come from 403 car the you need to shop for another t.c. off at least a 350 olds that had 200r, but if you call a real trans shop or converter seller they should be able to guide you better than me.......I also had some problems with the weight being on the flush side of the flywheel rather than the starter side where there is a 1/4 space at ring gear, where they should've put the weight.......cliff

The pics are of a Chevy torque converter for a 200R4. If you want it to set flush you will have to have the correct torque converter for a Olds.
Chevy has the weight on the flywheel facing the engine. On Olds it faces the transmission.

Yes its a 10in chevy convertor. I just spaced it out with washers to clear the weight so its not resting on it. Its working well so far. I got about 100 miles on the new set up and it running great.
