Slim Jim Transmission Noise

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a '63 Dynamic 88. Nice looking car, but I've noticed a noise coming from the transmission. I'm hoping someone might have a suggestion as to what it could be. It sounds like a rattling or buzzing noise. It comes and goes, but it's definitely coming from the trans. I know the slim jim has it's issues. I'm hoping this might be an adjustment issue of some sort, and not a sign of failure. The trans shifts normally through all gears. The noise occurs when it's parked and idling and when it's going down the road. It has a pretty good leak out of the output seal (replacement on the way), and around the pan gasket. Could this be a low fluid level issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've read through dozens of other threads on slim jims but I haven't been able to find anyone who has experienced the noise I've been hearing. The national Oldsmobile Meet is happening now (Lansing, MI), so I was going to see about talking with folks there to see if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks!

It could be that the trans fluid is low and picking up some air in the pump.
Once you get the new seal in, check and fill the trans while running at idle.

New pan gasket and filter too. FATSCO has them. Refill with Dexron III.

Make sure the flywheel cover is tight. I can't remember if my 64 98 had a small metal plate or molded plastic shield covering the input shaft and flywheel to the Slim Jim transmission (it's been almost 20 years). Regardless, make sure there's nothing loose down there that can rattle.
