Transmission swap - 64 Dynamic 88, chevy auto for slim jim?

Hello everyone,
I wanted to see if anyone has used the transmission swap kit linked below on a 63 or 64 Dynamic (or 98)? My question is whether or not there is sufficient clearance under the body for the GM transmission? The roto-hydramatic (slim jim) is more compact than the turbo hydramatic, and I'm not sure if Olds made the transmission tunnel smaller too?

Here is the kit:

Thanks! Any other experience with swapping out the slim jim would be appreciated!

Do a search for posts by KQQLCAT. He used a Ross Racing adapter to put a THM in a 61 Dynamic 88, which is the same underneath as your 64.

Can't remember how much work he had to do to the tunnel but it did require some.

Which "Chevy" transmission are you thinking to use? A THM350 or THM 400 are all pretty much the same inside, just the bellhousing bolt pattern is different.

If you're considering a 700R4 I think that's a total waste of time unless it's built to handle a 394's torque and a 700's shift characteristics aren't really that different from the SlimJim.

You want overdrive and lockup converter look into a properly prepped 2004R. Those came in Chevy, BOPC and multi pattern versions.

That Speed Gems kit would require MAJOR floor surgery.
I wouldn't recommend it.
The Ross Racing kit didn't require any floor surgery, but it was a tight fit.

Here's a good thread on the Bendtsen's adapter.

Anyone want to comment about the 1961-1964 Olds slender jim transmissions? If I recall proper, there's an area in Port Clinton OH that rebuilds them, or even said they have got seen them in race cars, and in some methods changed into higher ( Quicker ) than the 4 pace Hydros. Anyone antique enough to realize the answer on that?

There are a handful of trans shops around the country that will still re-build slim-jims.
Another one is Steve Pelosi at Pelosi Automotive in Mass.
Steve won't work on a trans shipped to him however.
The whole car must be there to make sure the TV linkage is adjusted properly.

Almost any good transmission tech could re-build a Roto 10 with an Oldsmobile shop manual AND the proper tools.
It would take plenty of time and money.
