Correct Bell Housing

As I continue my restoration, I have a question on the bell housing that came with my 66 442 to convert it to a 4 speed. The person I bought the car from had all the parts to convert the car to a 4 Speed, even the Muncie M20. He claims the guy he bought all the parts from said it was from a 65 442. I had the Muncie gone through by a local person who’s been doing it for 45 years. The M20 was from a later model GM/Chevy, may be a 1968. The linkage wasn’t correct, but he had the parts to make it work for my 66.

Now I’m questioning the bell housing because I don’t know if it’s correct or not. The part # on the housing is #9778882. The flywheel is at the machine shop (along with the block) so I can’t question that until I get it back.

Can anyone verify this is the correct bell housing?

Thank in advance…….Tom

Yes, the '882 bellhousing will work fine. Pretty much any BOP bellhousing has the same dimensions, pilot opening diameter, and input shaft length.

I have a complete correct 66 4 speed shifter and correct linkage/mounting plate for sale if you need one. I have a restored unit and a unrestored unit.

Joe, thanks for clarifying. My next post will be to check on the flywheel when I get it back from the machine shop..
