1954 - 1956 Cowl Tag Decoding - For Review

Worked on this off and on for a few months. I used many sources including the original dealer brochures. Been a fun project. Need more sets of eyes on this, please send me comments for typos and/or inaccuracies.

Excellent document. Nicely done.

This is only a comment on nomenclature. You identified Interior Trim Code (D) & you identified Paint Color Code (E). I understand Interior Trim Code represents both color & fabric.

Under Vehicle Options (F/G) you reference (E) as "exterior paint code":
"If a particular vehicle was to be built with optional equipment, the codes for these extras would be stamped below the exterior paint code."

Perhaps I'm being picky, none-the-less you (instead) might change Paint Color Code (E) to Exterior Paint Color Code.

Under 1955 Olds Paint Color Codes I believe correct formatting is to employ the plural instead of singular. A single body line (singular noun) and a single molding (singular noun); however, both (together) represents the plural and themselves would be correct. Or, changing the construct of the sentence you might reference the singular by stating: "Each body line and each molding lent itself"

"the body lines and moldings lentitself"

Under same section (1955 Olds Paint Color Codes) you state:
"In general, the first code was the low body color which usually included the rear quarter panels and the deck lid." I believe the term "low" should be changed to "lower".

Only suggestions....

Under 'E' -

Noun verb agreement:

You state: The paint color code were two digit numbers.
The paint color code "is" a two digit number; or, the paint color codes were two digit numbers.

Thank you, I was thinking of the paint code as a set of codes, so singular. LOL. I appreciate it.

On a side note. Anyone know what the Option K1 was? Something with the seat?

I hope Post #5 caught you in time before you finalized your document & moved it over to your website.
I have familiarity with site building, navigation, etc. I could see when you were making changes to the document on Dropbox, I could also see you employed Excel to create your tables. Little tricks. I like your website.

Fisher Body Date Plate (1962oldsmobile.com)

By 62 K1 was a padded front seat cushion.

Yes, thank you. I don't think there was an added option for extra padding on the '55 seats. I can add that to my doc for now, can't hurt until someone cries otherwise. Thanks again for your feedback.

Looks good. Took me a couple seconds but I figured it out. The lines delineate the 88s, from the Super 88s & the 98 Series.
