Camshaft choices for 303/324
What are the choices out there these days besides Ro$$ Racing ? Most of, if not all the old links to folks that make 303/324 camshafts are non-existent. The stock variety seems to be my only choice, not that this is totally horrible. I just don't want to spend $700 on a cam. https://www.fusickautomotiveproducts...p?number=SOC5N

Speed equipment for our aging machines is getting scarce and expensive when found. If you have tried, most of the cam builders that were around in the 50s or 60s with no results, you might try putting in parts wanted here or better yet in the H.A.M.B. Someone there might be able to steer you on to something they have been hording.. Best of luck... Tedd

Ok, talked to Hunter at Cam Craft in North Carolina, very knowledgeable. He said the stock lift was .407/.407 for a 1955 324. Without changing from stock springs (still need to run that by my engine builder) the most common profile they sell for Olds 303/324 is the "212".
So, the 212 (Dur@.050) will produce a lift of .495 with a 1.8:1 rocker ratio. He said they purposely removed lift from that profile as the profiles progressed thru their profile chart. The other one he called his "Starfire" profile was the "202" which would produce a total lift of .503.
Same price for any of the HCR profiles is $616.50 plus shipping for cam+lifters (lifters are ~$17 ea). By comparison, a stock cam+lifter package from Fusick is $603.

I guess you have to decide if $13 is worth a performance cam, compared to what might be considered a "stock cam". If you have doubts, call Fusick and ask what lift and duration their stock cams have and who makes their cams. For my money, I would get the Camcraft cam in a grind that suits your needs.
......Just my two cents worth.

Spectacular?! I love your enthusiasm! So I will keep you in mind. I am probably 6-8 weeks away from determining my final cam decision. I want a little more than stock, but my machinist might talk me out of it. Thank you for your response!

If you want to get your cam reground there is a cam grinder in Lester Prairie, MN that can grind your cam to whatever you want. He ground the cam for my 371 and refinished the lifters for under $300.
Just Google Berry Cam in Lester Prairie, MN

I am ordering from kanter on Monday the mild performance cam. Going with isky anti pump up lifters and a 650 quad carb. Wish there were options for intakes. I am going to try and find a dual quad 4 and run 2 500cfm carbs. I am curious about the dimensions as I haven't worked it out yet. Anyone have an idea if that will fit under the hood? I am worried about the height.

I believe the 303/324 rocker arms are only 1.6 to 1 ratio arms so you may not get the lift you are expecting. The 371 rocker arms are 1.8 to 1 so if you switched to them you could get the lift you are looking for but there might be some interference possible between the push rods and the hole they pass through in the heads.
