Hello CO family. I need to part with my '55 2dr post rocket88 resto project. Can anyone please advise me on pricing, either a "ballpark figure" or price range? Pics are located in my album.(Tigerdog1) Thanks

It's hard to price a car that partially disassembled. In good running, restored condition, the Old Cars Price Guide says about $10,000 for a '55 88 2-door sedan. If everything is there and in good condition and the car just needs to be put back together, the value may be not that much less than this. But if there is substantial work yet to be done, parts to be located, etc., then it's worth considerably less.

The OCPG lists the value of good running '55 88 2-door that needs full restoration at about $4,500. So your car is kind of a cross between these two. It's not running, but it's not in need of a full restoration, either, as part of the work has been done. Pick a number. $5,000? $6,000? Put a price on it and see what interest you generate. The more you can put the car back together yourself, the easier it will be to sell and the more you'll get for it, in my opinion.

You really haven't given us much to go on. Does it run and drive ? If so how well ? The dash doesn't look in real good shape. What condition is the rest of the interior ? Are the seats original ? Do they need redone ? Door panels ? How good is the paint job ? How much bondo went in the body ? How much rust ? Are the floors and trunk good ? Do you have all the trim ? The back bumper looks like it needs re-chromed. What condition is the rest of the chrome ? Do you have the glass ? Weather stripping ? Title ? Keys ?
If the car runs and drives, and you have all the trim i'd say $3500.00.

Still a lot of work to be done here before it's a real car.Do you have the rest of the trim? And that dash shows either it has textured paint or is dimpled with rust, not good if rust. The paint looks good from my front room how is it up close? Does it run and how well It's hard to put a number on it with out more info.Regular 88's post cars aren't as popular as supers or holidays but still rare cars and they aint making anymore so they will increase in value. A WAG for me would be in the $3000+ range with out any more info. You could probably part it out and make much more money if that is an option...Tedd

Thank you to all who replied, I appreciate your time. This is a California car, rust free. Left rear quarter panel was replaced do to damage, not rust.(I purchased it with the damage) Body work and paint professionally done. Dashboard does need to be repainted. I have all glass, rubber, trim, bumpers, seats, skirts, wheelcovers. Interior needs re-upholstery and headliner. Car was fully operative before any work done and drivetrain has not been touched. Some small items(visor, etc) may be missing from my inventory as I have had to move twice. I simply no longer have time, space, manpower, or $$ to continue. Tough choice but I have to do it. Hope this reply clarifies things a bit. I am happy to give more info if I can. Thanks to okie88, Tedd Thompson, and jaunty75.
