Dif between Vista Cruiser and Vista Cruiser Custom

I have seen several articles (one on wikipedia) that states in 1964 there were both Vista Cruiser and Vista Cruiser Custom. Whats the difference?

Not a great deal, apparently. The '64 Wagons brochure mentions the Custom only briefly as having an upgraded interior.

Funny they list front seat belt delete option. The NTSB would throw a fit on that one today!

The Custom had the deluxe interior, carpeting, deluxe steering wheel, Vista window sun visors, stainless drip rails, body side molding, and pot metal tailgate exterior trim as standard equipment. The base model Vista did not, however those items could be optionally added to a base model Vista.

My '72 Vista has possibly all of those items and they were standard I guess, but that was years later. Maybe Oldsmobile just decided to stop calling that package a "custom" after that year.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. 1967 was the last time that Olds offered the VC in Standard and Custom trim levels. Starting in 1968, all VCs were "custom" trim level.

There is no mystery about this. The cowl tag will tell you exactly which version you have. The four digit STYLE number will start 30xx for a base Vista and 32xx for a Vista Custom. The other two digits will tell you if it's a two row or three row car. xx55 is a two row, xx65 has the third seat.
