W25 Hood Option on the 72 Vista Cruiser?

I was checking out the 1972 Cutlass models/equipment list in the Sullivan resto guide and I noticed that it says that the W25 hood was available on the Cutlass Cruiser in '72 by special order.
It has the S and Supreme lists too but no list for the Vista, probably because it's a 442 book.
If anybody has the list for the Vista and could look I would be most appreciative.
I didn't even realize you could get it on the flat top wagon in '72.
Now I'm wondering if the hood was available by special order on the Vista in '72 or any other year and that I'll have to eat my words now for saying it wasn't.

My stats show the W-25 hoof being installed in 3200-, 3600-, and 4200-series cars. It shows 4800 series as zero installed. I assume 4800 is the wagon?

Yes, the 4800 series was the Vista Cruiser, but keep in mind that the flattop wagon was the Cutlass Cruiser, which was a 3600 series and is probably what's being refered to here.

I don't have any other info other than the 3600 series and how many were built with the hood.

re: your question
I have an original '1972 Oldsmobile Revised Option Prices - Phase II' Salesman Guide that was effective on December 11, 1971.
Under the option list for VC, it show the W25 hood as a $154.00 option. My understanding, based on the rest of the Oldsmobile documentation I have is that the W25 hood could only be ordered on the L34 or L75 engine packages; it came standard on W30 packages.

I have seen 72 VCs with OAI hoods, and always thought they looked great. Turns out they were also available from the factory...I guess the same could be said of the flattops, put in the right engine and order the hood???

Here's a scan copy of the info so you can see I'm not just making this up. The information is on a fold out and it's printed really tiny on the original. So you might have to zoom in to get what you want.

Now then, how appreciative do you plan to be???? Never mind, let's not go there. You're always welcome to the information if I've got it.

Thanks for the info guys, so it was available on the '72 4800 series/Vista Cruiser at least? It looks like I'll have to get out my fork and spoon.
You could get the L75 engine but it doesn't show the M20? I thought you could get that but apparently not? I know some earlier years had the four on the floor available factory. A magazine article says the '70 could be had with the higher horsepower 455 and the manual transmission but never says what type.
How about a three on the tree Vista with the L75?

I said I would be most appreciative and I am Allan R., and that's all you're getting.

Mike, the medical director is the only cars I'd ever heard of having the OAI hood. This sounds like anybody could have had one if they checked the right boxes! Way cool information

VCs with OAI hoods

I agree...and this is the result of a really quick web search. I didn't put in the Medical Doctor because everyone says that's the only one. Right....Enjoy.

Who says a VC couldn't pull??? Launched!!!

Come on guys, you're not paying attention here! Sales literature is not always correct for many reasons and this is one such case.
Diego already told you: *No* Vista wagons came with them. Those are actual production records. So only the Cutlass Cruisers *may* have come with them, but since these production records are by series, so all we know are the numbers for the whole 3600 Cutlass series that would have included 442s and wagons. Considering what the sales literature says, I'd say it is more likely that there were Cutlass Cruisers with them, but I'd have to see a documented one to be sure they did exist.

One small note, these '72 production figure are through June, so July figures are missing. And all things considered, I wouldn't believe there were any W25 VCs in July either.

Wanted to bring this conversation back to life in regards to the green Vista Cruiser listed for sale in a current post with a W25 hood. Are there any “known and/or documented” ‘70-‘72 Cutlass Cruisers with a factory installed W-25 hood ?
