Tires and wheels for 1963 F85 Cutlass Vert

Just got a 63 Olds F85 Vert and wondered what wheels and tires would look better than the stock hubcaps.. What is the largest sizes, can I change wheel bolt patterns to something better offset's? I believe this is the only thing holding me up to making it a great looking ride..

What are you looking for, exactly? The 4 x 4.5" bolt pattern is the same one used on six cylinder Mustangs, Comets, Falcons, and Mavericks in the 1960s and early 70s. Note it is NOT the same bolt pattern used on the Fox-body Mustangs, however. You can find aftermarket wheels that fit these applications. I've got 14" aluminum slot mags on my 62. I found these on Craigslist - they were previously used on an old Mustang. I've also got a set of the optional factory 15" wheels for my 62 and dog dish caps, which I am probably going to swap to. I currently have 195/70-14s on the front and 205/70-14s on the back. My friend Scott has 215/60-15 all around on his 62 convertible.

You can get the hubs and axle shafts redrilled, as others have done, for a five bolt pattern. You want to keep offset close to zero.

Thumbs up Thanks Joe

Thank You Joe. That will help a lot. What are the largest tires you suggest for front and rear so no rubbing. and assuming I buy a pair of zero offset rims, what width rims? 5,6,7,8" and I will probably do 15" diameter. Do you have any recommendations of rims for a tougher look. I guess assuming it is the same as the old mustang the options are pretty good.

Wheel width will depend on the tires you select. As I mentioned above, I know firsthand that the 215/60-15s clear with no issues. The 1962 wheel wells are a little tighter than the 63s on the outboard side, also. On my car, the aftermarket 14x6 slot mags have a little offset for the "deep dish" look, which puts the tires closer to the outboard fender lip. That's why I kept the sizes where I did.

The "tougher" look is a matter of personal opinion. I happen to like slot mags and also dog dish caps on widened steel wheels. I plan to go at least 7" on the back when I get those widened (stock was something like 4.5" ).

I found these I wonder if they would push the wheels out too much?
