1966 442 radio with rear speaker fader switch faceplate

I bought a rear speaker fader switch for my 1966 442 radio. Problem is, the black plastic ribbed dash radio faceplate is not notched out for me to mount the fader switch. I can easily do this with my dremel tool, but my question is, Are there actually two different faceplates for the radio, IE, one for a radio without a fader switch and a different one for one with a fader switch?

Thanks in advance for your reply!!!

X2...Don't cut anything. There should be an oval slot in the face plate for the fader to plug into the radio after you remove the little jumper clip from the radio output (three verticle ports beside the right hand ****...

Picture of what I am talking about

In order to use the fader switch, I will have to notch out the black plastic faceplate behind the fader **** at the 3:00 o'clock position.

OK...the book doesn't show a different cover w/fader control, only a left and right trim cover w/ AM/FM... so unless some one else has an idea then chop away...

Have you taken a look to see what radios were offered in that model year .
There may just be a radio that has a recessed fader switch.I have to believe the radio face plate is generic and runs through the whole line.
I havent seen anything different and I have 12 Radio face plates.
Let me see what I can find. There is a web site that recognizes most of the Delco Radios for Oldsmobile and gives a brief description.

Ron, It's not the radio that I have a problem with, it's the black ribbed plastic dash face plate that mounts between the radio and the *****/fader. Did you look at the picture I posted? I guess there are two black ribbed plastic face plates, ie, one without fader and a different one with fader. I can not find but one part number in my parts book. It's the little details like this that drive me crazy (short drive)!

I know where you are coming from.My Ex Wife used to drive me to drink..Now its just a short Putt.
I guess what I am trying to say is ..I have had or seen over 35 66/67 Radio Plates and I havent seen any deviation.Maybe its just that i havent thought there was a deviation.
Let me look again tomorrow after I get home from work. Those Radio Plates are hard to find.I think someone does make a Repop.
Let me check tomorrow.Hide the Dremel for a day or 2.
Call me if you want.
