It depends on climate in your location. I live in Middle Georgia where it get's as high as 100+ F in the summer and around 32 F (Lows) in the winter. I use 10W-30 in some of my rides and some get the 5W-30. Your user name must be from the sheriff on Duke's of Hazzard? Roscoe P Coltrane

I have a 60 Olds with a 394 and have been using 10W-30 for the past three years with good results. A good friend who has a 1953 Olds also recommended adding a pint of Marvel Mystery Oil when we change the oil to enhance lubrication and I do that as well. Can't advise on the value but you can find similar cars for sale on Hemmings. Hope that helps.

Whatever oil you use please remember to add zinc. Remember most modern mass sold motor oil is void of this element which provides important lubrication for pre 1996 vehicles.

Use Valvoline VR1 street legal 10w 30 and you won't have to worry about adding anything including ZDDP.
