I’m fairly certain the location of the chrome mirror is the same as sport mirror then just match that dimension on passenger side. You will need at least one of those reinforcement braces for mounting.

Correct. The "keyholes" for mounting the chrome mirror were factory-punched in the driver's door, so the sport mirror needed to cover those.

Pull the door panel off and see if you can find the correct location from the backside. You will have to remove the panel anyway to install the mirror remote control.

and it looks like it was put on that location from the factory.
when I get home, I’ll show you a picture of what I’m talking about.

Is it possible a sports coupe door was converted? The mirror location looks the same.

Converting the door would be a massive undertaking. Possibly someone used a sports coupe door skin? The punched holes are definitely in the rearward position needed on the sport coupe doors to clear the vent window. Here's a Holiday Coupe for comparison.

Two good possibilities, probably is a sports coupe door,
but like you said, a lot of modification could be a door skin.
either way i cannot mount the sport mirror over these holes,

From the body line just above the mirror to the pedestal is what I need quarter inch, half an inch, 3/4 of an inch? Thanks in advance, or if anybody else can share this info with me would be awesome.

thanks for the measurement V-8 owl could you possibly measure from the top body line to the pedestal? Here’s a picture of the area I am talking about. I’m about to drill as soon as you respond it looks like a half an inch.

To hard to measure to the top body line.

I measured to the lower door body line. It looks like right about 2" with a mirror gasket to the widest part of the mirror. (I notice you don't have a gasket.)

I just finished adding the passenger side mirror to my car. I made a template off the driver side from a piece of clear plastic. I flipped it over for the passenger side. It is a mirror image and it is imperative that you hit the right spot because of the inner structure of the door. I'll see if I can find the template tomorrow and if I can, I will duplicate it and mail it to you.

I found the template. This will provide the location of the mounting studs in the installed position for both sides. Exact location is important because inner door structure will complicate if not prohibit access to tighten the mounting nuts. If you want a copy of this, PM a mailing address.

The factory used a support plate on the inside of the door for the passenger side mirror. The mounting screws go into the support plate as the door sheet metal is thin and the screws would pull through. I made a plate out of thin aluminum and tapped the holes for the mounting screws.

I made my own as well. Bonded it in place using JBWeld. My contour was close but the epoxy filled any remaining gaps so there was no door skin distortion when I tightened the nuts holding the mirror in place.

The holes you see match the holes I drilled in the door skin using my template. I used pop rivets to hold the reinforcment in place until the epoxy cured.

Drilled the rivets out and cut my slots and nut pass through holes using a rotary file in my die grinder.

Hi
Do you still have this available?
Any chance you can scan it and email it?
I don't really really to have to remove my driver's side mirror to make a template.
I am adding a chrome passenger mirror to my 70 supreme vert
Thanks
