RUST NEVER SLEEPS... WMACHINE PRESERVATION THROUGH RESTORATION.. FROM WHAT I'VE READ THIS THING HAS ALREADY BEEN TOUCHED UP. SO WHY JUST STOP THERE ???
THIS REMINDS ME OF A BLACK W CAR THAT WENT TO THE NATS TRIED TO GET IN THE UNRESTORED CLASS BUT DUE TO TOO MANY REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS WAS UNABLE TO BE JUDGED DO YOU CONTINUE TO LET THE CAR RUST TO PIECES OR DO YOU START A RESTORATION?

"CONTINUE TO LET THE CAR RUST TO PIECES"? I suggest you learn more about what preservation really is, and you won't continue to make statements like that.
And yes, OCA needs to learn a lot more too. The whole judging system does not promote preservation, and I am in the process of addressing this with them too. I assure you there is nobody here proposing we let any of these cars rust away.

As for the restoration or preservation of this car My opinion since I have seen the car personally is that all it needs is a good cleaning and an on frame resto, the car does have dents and rust on many panels so it may need a repaint also the gold stripes need to be redone.
As for the YELLING, it's all good sometimes we need to relieve some stress

The rusty (but not too bad) 69HO on ebay had a buy it now at 25K and got a high bid of 20K. Knowing this, I'd say this car would pull 30K on e-bay or maby a little more the the right buyer. I think it's awesome and would drive it as is. Too bad $30+K is a zero too much for me.

I would clean out the stable for a 69 H/O. It is a shame to think of what will happen to the car if the lady doesn't sell it and it gets passed down to someone who will not appreciate it. These cars were in my opinon the best of the best. I know that the three cars I bought from an estate in N.Y. were owned by the family and they didn't know what to do with them. I saved them from a fate worse then death I am sure.

I like to restore cars and I like to drive my daily driver 70 442...
I like the new car smell after I've totally gone through it ...
I like when "Chuckles" fills up w/ smoke and Blasts Off ...

the person that posted this car for sale here has filled the owner's head with BS.
the owner now thinks she has a gold mine,so it will just sit in her garage gathering dust.
the car as it sits is not worth anywhere near 45k.

With all due respect, I spoke to the person who posted this this car for sale and he is only a co-worker who doesn't know one Olds from another. She just asked him to help her. I would guess to protect her from some wheeler dealers. Unfortunately, I've lost his name and phone #.

That said, yes it is for sale at the above price or any price she is comfortable with.
The car is sitting warm and dry in her garage.
Again thank you all for your input

I dont know you unless you use another name. Did you personally speak with the owner? The only person we talked to this year was a man from Kentucky who seemed interested. You may be thinking of some other car. Yes the market is down and she may not get the price SHE is asking for, but she may wait for the market to rise or SHE may adjust her price according to her urgency to sell.

$45.000 seems reasonable...
I wonder if we could stage a meet. I never get to meet other 442 heads ...

In the end the car is worth whatever the seller and potential buyer agree upon. If the buyer really wants it and can afford it they'll pay whatever it takes to get it. And if she decides she does'nt want to sell it then that is her buissiness.

The car is no longer in her garage gathering dust.. it has taken a long transport ride to the East coast and is happily resting with a very nice collection of other 1960's American muscle.
She is very happy with the deal that she worked out and the payment was close to her asking price. She still drives the old Taurus to work on rainy days, but mostly she commutes in her new 2010 Corolla with the working ac and windows that go up and down.
thank you all who spent a little time to help out my friend and help make sure that her late husbands car went to a good home.
Best of luck with your projects.

Seems a lot has happened since this thread was last seen, not the least of which is the car has been sold and that particularly onoxious loser has been banished from this site.
Glad to hear the lady who owned ths car was able to sell it for a price she could be happy with.

Yes, Joyce said the car was sold for 37k. to New Hampshire.
I know where it went, but don't know him personally. A friend of mine does know him pretty well and the car will be restored and shown at some point.

not everything you see posted on the internet is fake...case & point, my recently acquired REPO from SD.. well worth my efforts!! it was an ad posted by a bank, seemed reeeally fishy- but ended up being 100% legit, unrestored & all original ! (i think the post still exists in the 'for sale' thread)
