Gas gone wild

China reported its trade balance today. Record level of crude imports. And we are helping China pay for it as their exports to the US increased almost 13% year over year. If there is any disruption of oil supply, we will be competing with the Chinese for oil.

But it's that car in the driveway that gives us the freedom of mobility. I can walk out the door and turn that key anytime to drive across town or across the country. We all enjoy that freedom and will not give it up willingly.

Maybe someone can explain this to me:
I heard that the prices have been going up because some refineries have shut down. Some for maintenance and some permanently. Why does that mean that prices should go up? Is this because we have to buy refined product from outside of the US and Canada?
Normally if a company can't make enough of a product that is offered by other companies, they lose... don't they?

Some in this country want to take that freedom away regardless of how much oil we may or may not have or whatever fuel powers our vehicles. They just don’t want Americans to have the freedom of mobility. Those same pukes fly around the world telling everyone how terrible it is to use energy. . . . . .Al ***** is one of them.

Just read and watch an interesting piece about the futures market and how it is the primary reason oil is spiking while demand is falling in the US. The large banks and hedge funds buy the oil on the spot market and hold it until the prices go up then sell the futures. This is a large issue then the oil companies and what they do.

The action of "speculators" has very little to do with the price of oil. It would be comparable to me buying futures on the S&P to boost the stock market. "Speculators" make a decision to buy futures based on their expectations of future prices - which are driven their beliefs about the global economy, monetary policy, and supply.
A big reason oil prices ( and gasoline ) and other commodities have skyrocketed is due to the Fed's monetary policy. It is highly inflationary and debases the dollar. And now we have China importing 5.5 - 6 million barrels of oil a day. And Iran threatening to shut down shipping in the Gulf.
Its easy to blame speculators and big oil. Harder to understand the impact of printing money by the Fed. Been following this for a long time

The idea, whether real or imagined (and I have no personal opinion to contribute here ), that members of an elite are controlling vital resources, to the detriment of the masses (such as fuel, food, etc., depending on the era and the place) has been a significant contributor to revolutionary movements throughout history. The French Revolution and the revolution against the Weimar Republic (and it was a revolution) come immediately to mind. The ruling elites, in spite of clear warning signs, have had trouble seeing the threat to their system coming, have under-reacted, and have been shocked when they were thrown out of power (or guillotined, or put up against the wall and shot).
There is no reason to believe it will be any different the next time around.
Many agree with Thomas Jefferson that the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots (and tyrants) from time to time.

Well some slime ball has been on property. With my old 1995 Ford F-150 4x4 yard truck, the gas filler caps were open (surprise NO gas ).
A year ago when I was having work done to my Zx2 Escort, my gas gage was under a quarter of a tank (the tank was full jst before I drove it to the shop). I was not the only one that got boosted.- other customers cars (plus the trucks and SUVs in teh used car section of the lot) ALL got the tanks siphoned !

The price of gas is policitally motivated. After the election it will go way up or down a little bit, pending on which party gets in.
Not trying to spark a polictial debate with this post, That's the way I feel and I get very hot in politcal debates. Anybody on here seen any of my posts on Aleromod.com, knows exactly what I'm talking about and which party I stand with
