Electronic Fuel Pump Choices

I got the Cutlass running pretty good now. I had a Mr. Gasket fuel pump the was totally unreliable. I now have a Napa Posi Flo made by Puralator. It pumps very well but it makes a loud clicking sound. I mounted it to the underside and the noise resonated thru out the entire car. It sounds like I have thrown a rod in the engine. I unbolted it from the underside and installed multiple rubber washers between the pump and the underside of the body. It sound better than what it did but I still have a clicking noise. Are there any other fuel pumps out there that would eliminate this loud clicking noise??

I believe they all make noise! I've had good luck with Holley mechanical pumps, however.

Yes, I know they all make noise. I’m cool with the pumps that have a buzz. This one sounds like a jackhammer! I’m glad that I’m on the road running. It’s just kind of embarrassing when you’re at a stop light and the pump starts knocking.

Update

I couldn’t stand that nasty noise under the car. It really affected the car's performance too. Rolling on the expressway was pretty scary! I purchased an Edelbrok Electronic Fuel Pump #1791. WOW! What a difference! It kicks out the same PSI whether under load or not. The pump is very quiet. It doesn’t sound like a jackhammer wailing on the underside! The Edelbrock is an excellent solution for a decent electronic fuel pump.
