Manifold leak?

So I'm getting the exhaust installed at a local Midas and I'm going from 2" to 2.5" pipes. I had the obvious holes everywhere in my old exhaust (hence the replacement) but they said I also had leaks in the manifolds. They said if I just get the exhaust put in place, I would just get carbon monoxide leaking there still and it would effect the sound of the exhaust.

How complicated is it to fix a leaking manifold? They said I would need new headers. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about this, which is why I'm coming to you guys again.

Thanks

Hopefully after this adventure, I'll be an expert at this like I am on changing water pumps now (thanks to you guys).

Do you have headers or exhaust manifolds? Headers can wear with age and leak around the primary tubes and the flange. Exhaust manfiolds don't wear much with age. Unless you have a crack from overheating or a broken off bolt hole in your exhaust manifold it is probably still good.

Midas mentioned both... I really wish I had a camera to take pics of underneath my car
