Fan and clutch clean up / Restore

Planning on taking the fan off and blasting it, then painting it.
What's the best way to refresh/test the fan clutch.
Can the clutch be degreased and blasted or will that damage it, what's the best coating once it's prepped.

I blasted my clutch from Electra with crushed glass, it wont damage rubber parts ( shaft seal). Came out great, didnt give it any paint etc, left it as it was after blasting.

If you blast the fan don't use an element that is too abrasive as it will damage the metal. As far as the clutch, work on it with a plastic bristle brush, a little hot water and Simple Green, rinse sparingly with clean water. If you have a sealed unit the water will not affect it; however, if the clutch is leaking submerging it in water is not the thing to do. The finish is golden cad I believe, and you want to try and retain that finish if possible. Of course, if your clutch needs a rebuild, I'd ship it off as is, and let the rebuilder do the work since that will be covered in the price. Hope this helps.

If the clutch is leaking you need a new one.
