with any pts-ign engine, that will be super easy.
Run another wire from the coil terminal that goes to the points, thru your secret switch, to a ground. This effectively makes a parallel point contact that stays closed as long as you say so, preventing spark from happening.
I assume radio noise is not an issue on a '55- that coil extra wire will be a very nice radiating antenna. You can shorten the "antenna" by putting a relay near the coil, but that violates the KISS principle.
I have a nice system that I devised which is a little more complicated, but it automatically arms, prevents driving off, and requires a secret device to disarm. Inquire for details.
