Hi Bernhard I think mandatory far as spare/tire. Every car I have parted out even the base of base models had it or resemblance/pieces of it left in trunk.

So based on a fore mentioned not sure if that was an item that could be deleted and of course whatever GM mandates there were re: safety and ect ???

No, it was standard equipment. There may have been a space saver or wheel type option.

First, the spare and jack have NEVER been "optional" in any Olds ever made (well, at least since the Curved Dash days...).

Second, in 1969 (which is the year the OP asked about) the space saver spare was not offered by Olds - a full size spare was the only one you got. And since some here aren't old enough to remember, when we talk about a "space saver" spare, we aren't talking about a modern donut spare. The Space Saver spare was a full size tire with collapsed sidewalls so that it stored in a smaller space. These were mainly seen in F-body cars. They came with a pressurized inflator can to inflate the tire to full diameter if you needed it.

Here's one in a first-gen Firebird. Note the inflator can.

I wasn't sure if it was an option for Olds or not, it showed up on a list I was looking at for option codes, but the list also showed codes all the way through the 70's.

Just look at any Olds f/s on ePay
Obviously they came w/o a spare tire or jack.
